India Meteorological Department, IMD has forecast heatwave to severe heatwave conditions over East and South Peninsular India for the next 5 days. Heatwave conditions are expected to prevail in isolated pockets of Bihar, Jharkhand, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka and East Uttar Pradesh till Tuesday. The IMD said, West Uttar Pradesh and Konkan will also witness heatwave conditions from tomorrow till 29th of April.
The weather department further forecast a fresh spell of rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds over Northwest India till 28th of April. It said, light to moderate rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand till 28th of April, with possibility of hailstorm and isolated heavy rainfall for the next two days. Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh will also witness rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning and winds gusting upto 40 kilometer per hour. The IMD said, strong surface winds upto 35 kilometer per hour will prevail over Uttar Pradesh and south Rajasthan for the next two days.
On hot and humid weather, the IMD said, these conditions are very likely to prevail over Tripura, Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Assam, Meghalaya, Konkan and Goa from today till 28th of April.
