The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heatwave conditions across parts of east and peninsular India for the next two days. Heatwave will prevail over parts of Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry and Telangana today and tomorrow. The IMD added hot and humid weather will persist over Coastal Karnataka and Goa till tomorrow, and over Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry till the 9th of this month.
Meanwhile, Northeast India is expected to witness enhanced rainfall and thunderstorm till the 9th of April. The Weather agency said that light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of upto 50 kilometer per hour speed will prevail over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and West Bengal during next 7 days. These conditions will also prevail over Jharkhand and Odisha tomorrow. In North India, light rainfall and snowfall will continue over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and over Uttarakhand during the next 7 days. The IMD added that light to moderate rainfall will descend over Lakshadweep and Rajasthan today, and over Kerala and Puducherry till the 11th of this month. These conditions will also be prevalent over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Telangana along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds between 30 and 40 kilometer per hour speed during the next 4 days.
No significant change in maximum temperatures is expected over the country during the next 2 days.
