IMD forecasts fresh spell of rain over Odisha, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh from today

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a fresh spell of rainfall activity over Odisha, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh from today. Heavy rainfall activity is also likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal.

The weather office has also forecast heavy rainfall over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, East Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand during the next two days.

In Uttar Pradesh, all possible efforts are being made by the state government to deal with the situations arising out of rain and rain-related accidents and floods.

The government has instructed officials to take necessary steps in this regard. Whereas after the heavy rains in the past few days, the monsoon seems to be weakening.

According to Atul Kumar Singh, senior meteorologist of the Zonal Meteorological Center, the rainfall will gradually reduce in the state, but there are chances of lightning along with thunder in the central areas of Bundelkhand and Vindhya region.

State Relief Commissioner GS Naveen Kumar, while informing about the rain situation, said that at present all the embankments of the state are safe, there is no worrying situation anywhere.

In the last 24 hours, the state has received an average rainfall of 12.4 mm, which is 175 percent of the normal rainfall of 7.1 mm. Relief Commissioner said that in the last 24 hours, 30 mm or more rainfall has been recorded in 06 districts of the state (Barabanki, Bahraich, Banda, Sultanpur, Gonda, Shravasti).

At present 91 villages in 8 districts of the state are affected by floods.
