Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation released the report on Assessment of Employment Potential of Jal Jeevan Mission in New Delhi today. The assessment was carried out by the Center for Public Policy, under IIM Bangalore.
The report provides massive insights on the employment generation potentials of Jal Jeevan Mission at various stages of its implementation. The Mission is likely to generate employment of around 3 crore.
Secretary for Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation said, that they have generated substantial employment under both micro and macro approaches with certain projects and schemes of Jal Jeevan Mission.
Secretary added that soon a multi-skill course will be launched under National Jal Jeevan Mission with the help of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship
Under the report by IIM Bangalore and International Labour Organization, around 60 lakh person per year of direct and more than 2 crore person per year of indirect employment was generated through the creation of Jal Jeevan Mission.
