In the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup, South Africa defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. South Africa overhauled the target of 78 runs, scoring 80 for Four, in just 16.2 overs.
Earlier, opting to bat first, Sri Lanka were bundled out for a paltry 77 runs in 19.1 overs. Kusal Mendis was the top scorer for Sri Lanka, scoring 19 runs in 30 balls. This was Sri Lanka’s lowest total in T20 cricket. For the Proteas, Anrich Nortje scalped four wickets, conceding just seven runs in four overs. Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada took two wickets each. Nortje was adjudged the Player of the Match.
