I&B Secretary Apurva Chandra says in the era of AI, AVGC sector will witness quantum growth in the coming years

Information and Broadcasting Secretary and Chairman of the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comic (AVGC) Task Force, Apurva Chandra have said that great potential lies in India in the AVGC sector. He said, in the era of Artificial Intelligence and Metaverse, the AVGC sector will witness quantum growth in the coming years as the visual media for better interaction will be the focus area.
 
Talking exclusively to Akashvani News, Mr. Chandra said, new technologies are emerging which will require a lot of content and creativity. He said the government is working to build a robust ecosystem for the development of the AVGC sector to make the country a global hub for AVGC.
 
Last year, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur presented the Task Force Report on ‘Realising AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics – Extended Reality) Sector Potential in India’ by Chairman of the Task Force, Apurva Chandra. According to the report, the AVGC sector in the country has witnessed an unprecedented growth rate in recent times, with many global players entering the Indian talent pool to avail of offshore delivery of services. India today contributes about 2.5 to 3 billion US dollars out of the estimated 260 to 275 billion US dollars worldwide in the AVGC market.
