Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has accused the Congress and its allies of changing their name to hide corruption, comparing it to offenders changing their identity to evade accountability.
In a tweet, Mr. Thakur referred to the United Progressive Alliance, UPA, becoming synonymous with corruption and said the opposition's tactic of changing the acronym reminds him of the East India Company that looted the nation. The Minister also alleged that Congress coined the slogan "India is Indira and Indira is India" in the 70s to hide corruption and justify undermining democracy. He expressed confidence that the new alliance name, I.N.D.I.A, would lead to electoral defeat, suggesting history would repeat itself.
