Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has said that OTT players have a responsibility of ensuring that their platform does not propagate vulgarity and abuse camouflaged as creative expression. Mr. Thakur interacted with representatives of leading OTT platforms in New Delhi yesterday. During the meeting, various issues including content regulation, user experience, enhancing accessibility for the specially-abled, and overall growth and innovation of the sector were deliberated extensively.
In a tweet, Mr. Thakur said, India is a diverse country and OTTs must also reflect the collective conscience of the country and provide a healthy viewing experience for people of all age groups. He said, OTT Platforms must also be sensitive to the country’s cultural diversity. Highlighting the merits of the OTT Platforms, the Minister said, OTT platforms have revolutionized the content, spurred new talent, and showcased regional content at a global scale.
