Hyderabad has unleashed imagination and youthful energy as the city hosted the regional edition of WAM- WAVES Anime and Manga Contest yesterday. Organized by the Media and Entertainment Association of India (MEAI) and co-hosted by Telangana VFX, Animation and Gaming Association, the event brought together the best of Telangana’s emerging talent in anime, manga, webtoons, and cosplay.

Telangana Academy of Skill and Knowledge Shrikant Sinha, who is the Chief Guest, said people should see Animation and Manga as good careers and the WAM-like events will help encourage the youngsters to take these sectors as their careers. Media and Entertainment Association of India Secretary Ankur Bhasin said WAM is a cultural movement that redefines what India can create and export to the world. He said the stories, characters, and visions from the country are no less compelling than global hits. He added that Hyderabad has once again proven it’s a creative force to reckon with.
