Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that Northeast students will not need to leave their region for work and they will get employment opportunities there. Mr Shah said this while addressing the students from the Northeast at the Youth Parliament organised by Students’ Experience in Inter-State Living (SEIL) in New Delhi today. In his address, Mr Shah underscored that by 2027, the capitals of all the states in the Northeast will be connected by train, air, and road. He said that 4800 crore rupees were spent on the vibrant village programme which specifically benefits Arunachal Pradesh. Mr Shah also mentioned that India’s largest Rail-cum-Road bridge has been constructed over the Brahmaputra River. He said that a rail line is also being built between Assam and Bhutan.
The Home Minister also highlighted that the incidence of violence in the region has decreased by nearly 70 per cent in the last 10 years. He said, there is a 70 per cent reduction in the deaths of security forces and an 89 per cent reduction in civilian deaths. Mr Shah mentioned that the Modi government signed agreements with all insurgent groups, leading to over 10,500 rebels surrendering their weapons and reintegrating into the mainstream. He emphasized that in the past 10 years, 12 significant agreements had been signed with insurgent groups and more than 10,000 individuals have surrendered their weapons so far.
The Home Minister said that organic agriculture in Sikkim also started under the BJP government. Mr Shah added that a 27 thousand crore rupees semiconductor plant is coming to Assam, which will provide job opportunities for the youth. He also mentioned that an investment of 2.5 lakh crore rupees is coming to the North-East.
