Hockey India League: Gonasika Clinch 1st Win; Bengal Tigers Dominate Delhi

In the Hockey India League, Team Gonasika secured their first win in the tournament, beating Hyderabad Toofans, 3-1, at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela last night. S V Sunil gave Team Gonasika an early lead, scoring in the second minute. However, Toofans responded quickly, with Tim Brand equalising in the 12th minute. Gonasika regained the advantage when Victor Charlet found the back of the net in the 33rd minute, and Nilam Sanjeep Xess sealed their win with a goal in the 60th minute.

 

In another match, Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers clinched a comfortable 4-1 win against the Delhi SG Pipers at the same venue. For Bengal, Jugraj Singh scored two goals, and Sukhjeet Singh and Abhishek Nain one each. Gareth Furlong is the lone goal scorer for the Pipers. With their third consecutive victory, the Tigers now sit atop the table with nine points.

 

Vedanta Kalinga Lancers will face off against Soorma Hockey Club this evening. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:15 PM IST. In the second game of the day, the Tamil Nadu Dragons will take on the UP Rudras.
