HM Amit Shah to be on 3-day visit to J&K beginning today to review security situation & interact with security personnel

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be on a 3 day visit to Jammu and Kashmir beginning today to review security situation and interact with security personnel.

 

During his 3 day visit, Shah will meet BJP MLAs in Jammu besides chairing two crucial separate security review meetings of Unified Headquarters and annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Yatra.

 

Akashvani correspondent reports that Amit Shah will be reaching Jammu in the afternoon today and will be meeting with 28 BJP MLAs in the evening to review their performance in the Assembly during first budget session of the present Government.

 

He will take feedback from the MLAs especially about budget session of the Legislature which will resume on April 7 after 12 days break and is scheduled to adjourn sine die on April 9.

 

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh will be joining Amit Shah in Jammu. Shah will be in Jammu till the afternoon of April 7 and will then proceed to Srinagar.

 

The Home Minister will be chairing two crucial and separate security review meetings.

 

One of the meeting will be the Unified Headquarters in which Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, top brass of Home Ministry, Army, paramilitary forces, J&K Police, Intelligence agencies and civil administration will be present.

 

Discussions are expected to focus on counter-terrorism operations, cross-border infiltration attempts and the overall security landscape in J&K.

 

The Unified Headquarters will review security situation in J&K with special reference to the Jammu region where infiltration attempts and movement of terrorists in upper reaches of Kathua, Udhampur and other districts has become a cause of concern.

 

Besides security, other arrangements to be made for the Annual Amarnath Yatra will also be discussed.

 

In addition to the review meeting, the Home Minister is also expected to visit forward areas along the International Border to inspect security arrangements and boost the morale of the forces stationed there. Shah will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multi-crore projects virtually from Srinagar.

 

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will also be joining the function for dedication of developmental projects by Shah and is likely to have separate meeting also with the Home Minister. Shah will return to New Delhi on April 8.
