Police Commemoration Day is observed today

 On Police Commemoration Day today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honoured the bravery and sacrifice of the country’s police personnel. In a social media post, he praised their unwavering dedication to ensuring the safety of the people. He said that they exemplify courage and determination. Mr Modi also commended the proactive efforts and assistance of police personnel during humanitarian challenges.

Home Minister Amit Shah bowed to the martyrs immortalized by their supreme sacrifices in the line of duty. In a social media post, Mr Shah said, this is an occasion that honours the infinite sacrifices the police personnel and their families make to keep the nation safe. He extended heartfelt gratitude to them for all the sacrifices they have made for the nation.

Mr Shah laid a wreath at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi this morning and paid homage to the martyrs on Police Commemoration Day. Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Kumar Deka, and DGs of paramilitary forces also paid tributes to the martyrs at the National Police Memorial.

In his address, Mr Shah said that 36,468 police personnel have made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. He noted that 216 police personnel have made the supreme sacrifice in the last year. The Home Minister said that in the last decade, due to the efforts of the brave Jawans, peace has been restored in Jammu and Kashmir, the North-East, and areas affected by Left-Wing Extremism. He added that the three new criminal laws will ensure that the country’s criminal system becomes the most modern in the world.

Mr Shah said that many welfare schemes related to health, housing, and scholarships are being run by the Modi government for policemen and their families. He said that all the policemen of the country are determined to realize the dream of the Prime Minister to make India a fully developed nation by 2047. Their courage, dedication, and devotion will play an important role in achieving this goal.

Mr Shah said that after taking charge, Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided that in honour of all the brave soldiers, a Police Memorial would be built in Delhi to inspire the youth and the public. He stated that the nation will always be indebted to the brave Jawans who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
