J&K: HM Amit Shah assures to bring terror related situation under control & restoration of statehood

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured the BJP MLAs and senior party leaders that the terror-related situation in the Jammu region will be brought under control soon. He reiterated the Central Government’s stand on Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir that it will be restored at an appropriate time. Mr Shah held two two-hour-long meetings with all 28 BJP MLAs at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar in the presence of Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh. National General Secretary-in-Charge J&K Tarun Chug, BJP UT chief Sat Sharma, Leader of Opposition (LOP) Sunil Sharma and MPs Jugal Kishore Sharma and Ghulam Ali Khatana were also present in the meeting. Mr Shah arrived in Jammu yesterday evening on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to review the security situation, interact with security personnel and inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multi-crore projects virtually in the Union Territory and check on the progress of development work. Mr Shah was received at the technical airport by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, senior BJP leaders and top brass of J&K Administration. Mr Shah has hectic schedule in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions. He will tour the International Border (IB) today and will visit the BSF Border Out Post (BOP) Vinay in the Kathua district to assess the ground situation there. Mr Shah will meet the family members of the martyrs of the J&K Police at Raj Bhavan Jammu at 2 PM who died fighting militants and also present appointment letters to some of them selected on compassionate grounds. He will leave for Srinagar in the evening. Tomorrow, Mr Shah will be chairing two crucial separate security review meetings of Unified Headquarters and the annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Yatra at Srinagar. The Home Minister will be dedicating a number of multi-crore projects to the people of J&K through a virtual inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony. Mr Shah will first take stock of various development programmes in the Union Territory at a meeting to be held at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar. Subsequently, he will attend another meeting at the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar where the security situation in J&K will be reviewed. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, top brass of Ministry of Home Affairs, Army, paramilitary forces, J&K Police, Intelligence agencies and civil administration will be present at the meeting. Discussions are expected to focus on counter-terrorism operations, cross-border infiltration attempts and the overall security landscape in J&K. Besides security, other arrangements to be made for the Annual Amarnath Yatra will also be discussed.
