  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds bilateral meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of COP 28 Summit in Dubai.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a series of bilateral meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the COP-28 Summit in Dubai yesterday. During a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Mr Modi expressed condolences over the loss of lives in the October 7 Hamas attacks and welcomed the release of hostages. Emphasising the need for the safe delivery of humanitarian aid, the Prime Minister reiterated India’s support for a two-state solution and the early resolution of the Israel-Palestine issue through dialogue and diplomacy.


Prime Minister Modi met with President of Maldives, Mohamed Muizzu, and discussed ways to enhance friendship between India and Maldives across diverse sectors. In a social media post, Mr Modi said, we look forward to working together to deepen cooperation for the benefit of our people.


The  Prime Minister also held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, expressing admiration for Mr Macron’s passion for strengthening relations between India and France.


Prime Minister Modi also held talks with the leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Sweden, Turkey, Barbados, Guyana, Italy, Brazil, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Bahrain, Jordan, Tajikistan, and Ethiopia. Mr Modi said he is always very happy to meet Crown Prince of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He invited UAE President for the Vibrant Gujarat Summit to be held next month.


The Prime Minister returned to New Delhi last night after two-day visit to Dubai, where he attended the Conference of Parties-28.

Addresing the World Climate Action Summit at COP-28, Mr Modi Modi has said that India is committed to the UN Framework for Climate Change process. He offered to host COP33 in 2028. He also highlighted India's development model, illustrating a delicate balance between ecology and the economy.

हमारा लक्ष्य 2030 तक emissions intensity को 45 परसेंट घटाना है। हमने तय किया है कि Non-fossil fuel का शेयर हम बढ़ा कर 50 परसेंट करेंगे। और, हम 2070 तक net zero के लक्ष्य की तरफ भी बढ़ते रहेंगे।

Ahead of Winter Session of Parliament beginning on Monday, the government has called an all party meeting in New Delhi today to ensure smooth functioning of both the Houses. Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi will hold the meeting with the floor leaders of political parties in both the Houses of Parliament. The Winter Session of Parliament will commence on 4th of December and will continue till 22nd of December. There will be total of 15 sittings spread over a period of 19 days.


On the first day of the session, Ethics Committee report on cash for query charges against TMC MP Mahua Moitra will be tabled in the Lok Sabha. As per the list of business,  the Standing Committee report on the ' Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023', the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita,2023 and the Bharatiya Sakshya Bill, 2023 will be tabled in Parliament.

President Droupadi Murmu will address the 111th convocation of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University this morning in Nagpur. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will be present at this ceremony which will be presided over by Governor and University Chancellor Ramesh Bais.  


Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University has completed 100 years of establishment and this year is being celebrated as its centenary year. In the convocation ceremony, 129 research scholars will be awarded with PhD degrees.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will deliver this year's prestigious Dr Rajendra Prasad Memorial Lecture in New Delhi today. The theme for this year is "Arthik Mahashakti Ke Rup Me Bharat Ka Abhyuday." The programme will be held at Rang Bhavan Auditorium of the Broadcasting House.


Dr. Rajendra Prasad Memorial Lecture is organized by Akashvani  in the memory of the first President Dr. Rajendra Prasad, who was an epitome of simplicity, a renowned scholar, President of the Constituent Assembly and a great visionary who had India and Indianness uppermost in his mind.

The Election Commission has revised the date of counting for the Election to the Legislative Assembly of Mizoram from 3rd December to the 4th of December. The Commission decided to change the date of counting after receiving several representations from various quarters requesting for change in the date of counting due to 3rd December being a Sunday which is of special significance for the people of Mizoram.

Meanwhile, counting for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Telangana will be held tomorrow.


In Madhya Pradesh, two thousand 533 candidates, including 252 women, are in the fray for 230 seats of the state Assembly. Here is a report:


All necessary measures have been put in place to ensure peaceful and error free counting of votes in all 230 seats. Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan informed that Proper security arrangements have been made by the administration.

With an objective of achieving saturation of various schemes of the Government of India, different Government departments are organising Viksit Bharat Sankalpa Yatra nationwide outreach campaign from November 15 to January 25. In Karnataka the campaign is being planned at 1097 locations at Urban Local bodies and Gram Panchayat levels. Our Correspondent has the details.


Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr Virendra Kumar flagged off the Viksit Bharat Sankalpa Yatra in the Kothanur village of Kolar district yesterday. Later participating in the Rozgar Mela held in Bengaluru, the minister spoke exclusively to Akashvani on the significance of the Yatra.


NABARD is one of the nodal agencies organising the event. The Assistant General Manager of NABARD M S Raghavendra has spoken about the Yatra.


Viksit Sankalpa Yatra is reaching the unreached and disseminating information and generating awareness about the Government schemes and also learning from the citizens by interacting with the beneficiaries and others.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will offer prayers at Somnath Temple in Gujarat this morning. He will then attend the birth centenary program of Nirupam Nanavati organized by the Rupayatan Trust at the Gir foothills of Junagadh.

In Jammu and Kashmir, Police in Baramulla under its relentless campaign against drug peddling has achieved remarkable success as the number of registered cases has significantly dropped in recent months.


As of November 2023, police have registered 260 cases under NDPS act, arrested 452 drug peddlers which include 70 hard-core drug peddlers who have been booked under PIT NDPS PSA in Baramulla district. Moreover, property worth crores of drug peddlers have been attached during the current year. Police have also made substantial seizures of contraband worth more than 14 crores.

Israel’s war with Hamas erupted again yesterday, as airstrikes hit houses and buildings in the Gaza Strip minutes after a weeklong truce expired. Health authorities in the besieged territory reported dozens of Palestinians killed and Israel dropped leaflets over Gaza City and southern parts of the enclave, urging civilians to flee to avoid the fighting.

In Cricket, India beat Australia by 20 runs in fourth T20 International at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur to clinch the five-match series 3-1, with a game to spare. India won the first two matches but lost the third match.  


Chasing a victory target of 175 runs, Australia made 154 for 7 in the stipulated twenty overs. For India, Axar Patel took three wickets while Deepak Chahar took two wickets. Axar Patel was adjudged Player of the Match.

 

The last match of the series will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru tomorrow.

In Badminton, India’s Priyanshu Rajawat made the men’s singles semi-finals at the Syed Modi International 2023 badminton tournament in Lucknow yesterday. World No. 31 Priyanshu Rajawat, comfortably dispatched Indonesia’s Alwi Farhan, the reigning junior world No. 1, 21-15, 21-16 in his quarter-final match to make the final four. Rajawat will face Taipei’s Chi Yu Jen in the semis today.
