Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dedicated the newly constructed Parliament building to the Nation this morning. Prime Minister with Lok Sabha Speaker OM Birla installed the Sengol (Sceptre) in the Newly constructed Parliament. Yesterday evening, Prime Minister Modi met the Adheenams at his residence and took their blessings. The Adheenams handed over the Sengol to Mr Modi.

To mark the inauguration of the new Parliament building, Mr Modi will also launch a 75 rupees denomination coin and stamp on the historic occasion. The new building of Parliament symbolises the spirit of self-reliant India, Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The newly constructed Parliament building has been built in record time with quality construction. The newly constructed building will work to further enrich India's glorious democratic traditions and constitutional values and is also equipped with state-of-the-art facilities which will help the Members to perform their functions in a better way. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of the new building of Parliament on 10 December 2020. We have a report from our correspondent: 

The power of the Indian democratic system manifests in our Parliament and the new Parliament building reflects the aspirations of 135 crore Indians. The new Parliament building has a built-up area of 65 thousand square metres. Its triangular shape ensures optimum space utilization. The Lok Sabha hall has 888 seats and it is based on the peacock theme, the National Bird. The Rajya Sabha will have a capacity of 384 seats and it is based on a lotus theme, the National Flower. The Lok Sabha hall will be able to accommodate 1,272 seats for joint sessions. The Building has offices which are secure, efficient, equipped with the latest communication technology and has sophisticated audio-visual systems. The state-of-the-art Constitutional Hall symbolically and physically puts the citizens at the heart of the democracy. The Central  Lounge will complement the open courtyard. A platinum-rated Green Building, the new Sansad Bhawan is a symbol of India's commitment towards environmental sustainability. An embodiment of Indian heritage, it reflects the vibrance and diversity of modern India, incorporating cultural and regional arts and crafts. The new Parliament building is accessible for people with disabilities, divyangjans. The architectural marvel stands as a proud symbol of the nation's progress. In view of the inauguration of the New Parliament Building, Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory to ensure traffic arrangements and smooth functions in the National Capital. Delhi Traffic Police said in its advisory that entry of vehicles in the New Delhi district is restricted until three this afternoon. Only public transport vehicles and emergency vehicles are allowed to move in New Delhi District.

The areas which have been regulated are Mother Teresa Crescent Road, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Gol Dak Khana, Patel Chowk, Ashok Road, Windsor Place, Janpath, Akbar Road, and Teen Murti Marg. Delhi Traffic Police urged people to avoid the regulated area and use public transport. Delhi Police has also set up pickets and tight security arrangements in order to maintain law and order in the National Capital. 


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will share his thoughts with the people of the country and abroad in the Mann Ki Baat programme on Akashvani at 11 AM today. It will be the 101st episode of the monthly radio programme.

The programme will be broadcast on the entire network of Akashvani and Doordarshan, the Akashvani website and the Newsonair mobile app. It will also be live-streamed on the YouTube channels of the Akashvani, DD News, PMO and Information and Broadcasting Ministry. Akashvani will broadcast the programme in regional languages immediately after the Hindi broadcast.

Since the 3rd of October 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been addressing the citizens of the country through his Mann Ki Baat programme.


The Eighth meeting of the NITI Aayog Governing Council concluded in New Delhi yesterday. It was presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Chairman of NITI Aayog. 

Addressing the Governing Council meeting, Mr Modi emphasised the importance of evolving a common vision to achieve a Vikasit Bharat @ 2047. The Prime Minister also stressed on the need for the Centre, States and UTs to work together as Team India to ensure an Adarsh Amrit Kaal.


Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that the Government has worked with a sense of service and dedication in the last nine years and there has been a rapid change in every sector. Addressing the Valedictory Session of National Conclave on nine years of ‘Seva, Sushasan, and Garib Kalyan' in New Delhi last evening, she said, the faith of people in the Government has increased. 

Speaking on the occasion, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said, in previous governments, schemes used to end up reaching a few people, but in our government the goal of Antyodaya is being fulfilled. He said, India is the fastest growing economy in the world. 


Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh will visit Nigeria from today to the 30th of this month to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the President-elect of the West African nation Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Mr. Singh will attend the swearing-in ceremony at the Eagle Square in Abuja tomorrow. He will also meet the outgoing Nigerian President Mr Muhammadu Buhari during a reception. This will be the first-ever visit of any Indian Defence Minister to Nigeria. 

The Raksha Mantri’s visit will be an important landmark in building the strong bonds of friendship between the two countries. Considering the growing defence cooperation between India and Nigeria, senior officers of the Ministry of Defence and the top leadership of important Defence PSUs will accompany Mr. Rajnath Singh. They will hold meetings with the representatives from the Nigerian industry and the Armed Forces to identify the equipment and platforms, through which the Indian defence industry can support the country’s requirements.

Nigeria is home to an estimated 50,000 members of the Indian community. The Raksha Mantri will address the Indian diaspora at Abuja during the visit.


External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar has said that the government is today thinking about an era of the new generation. He said this while delivering a lecture on Modi’s India: A Rising Power at a private University in Ahmedabad yesterday. He said that the country needs to buildup enormous domestic capacities which require deep strengths in areas which were earlier ignored. Dr Jaishankar discussed the flagship schemes implemented by the centre that established India’s position as the leading nation on the global platform. 


General Officer Commanding in Chief, Northern Command, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi yesterday visited the frontier district Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir. He held a meeting with field commanders of Ace of Spades Division and Romeo Force to review the operational preparedness. He appreciated the troops for maintaining the highest levels of preparedness. The twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch are under high alert following terror-related incidents in the last two months.


In Jammu and Kashmir, the Hill Kaka Day was observed at Kalali Morah yesterday, in the Surankote area of Poonch district to commemorate the martyrdom of civilians and army soldiers in an anti-terrorist operation in the year 2003. As many as 45 civilians and 35 soldiers were martyred in an operation when the army with locals launched Operation Sarvinash in 2003 to eliminate more than 100 terrorists from Hill Kaka and its adjoining areas in the border district Poonch. To commemorate the martyrdom of civilians and army soldiers, Hill Kaka Day is observed every year in which administration, Army officers and people of the area participate. 


The International Day of Yoga (IDY) will be celebrated all around the world on the 21st of next month. Yesterday, over 50 thousand people participated in Yoga Mahotsav in Hyderabad to mark 25 Day countdown for the Day of Yoga. We now bring you a special Story on Prime Minister's Yoga Awards. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the second International Day of Yoga in 2016 had announced two categories of Yoga awards, one being International and other being National to be announced on the occasion of IDY. The purpose of the awards is to recognize and felicitate the individuals or organizations who have made a significant impact on the society, for a sustained period, by the way of promotion and development of Yoga. The winners are felicitated with a trophy, certificate and a cash award of 25 Lakh rupees. In-case of joint winners, the awards are divided among the winners. The applications or nominations process for this year’s awards was open till 31st March 2023. Conferring the awards, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that necessary improvements are being brought in for roping in more and more professionals in not only in the field of modern medicine, but also the AYUSH.

India’s ace shuttler HS Prannoy will lock horns with China’s Weng Hongyang in men’s singles final of  Malaysia Masters badminton tournament in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon. Last evening, world number nine Prannoy received a walkover in his semi-final clash to final after Indonesia’s Christian Adinata pulled out with an injury towards the end of the first game.

In women's singles yesterday, PV Sindhu's campaign ended after a loss in the semi-final. Sindhu was defeated by Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska Tunjung. 


In IPL Cricket, defending champions Gujarat Titans will face four time champions Chennai Super Kings in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad this evening. 

Gujarat stormed into the final defeating Mumbai Indians in the second Qualifier match. 

For Mahendra Singh Dhoni led Chennai, this would be their fifth title, which would level them with Mumbai Indians with most IPL trophies. 

On the other hand, Hardik Pandya led Gujarat team reached its second final in a row. If they win the final, Gujarat would become the first team to win back-to-back titles in its first two years. 

The Hardik Pandya led side was clinical in the group stages as it won 10 of the 14 league matches and was the first side to book a place in this year's Playoffs.


French Open tennis, the second Grand Slam tournament of the season will begin today. Serbian tennis great Novak Djokovic will start his quest for a record 23rd Grand Slam title in the absence of Spanish star and 'King of Clay' Rafael Nadal this year. First seed Alcaraz, second seed Daniil Medvedev and others will also participate in the tournament. In men's doubles, India's Rohan Bopanna will partner with his Australian partner Matthew Ebden. In the men's doubles category, Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni, an all-Indian team, will also compete.
