In Uttar Pradesh, many high-profile candidates filed their nominations today. Senior BJP leader, former Union Minister and Party candidate from Sultanpur Menka Gandhi, BJP candidate from Basti constituency Harish Dwivedi, Jagdambika Pal from Dumariaganj, BJP candidate and film star Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua from Azamgarh, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti from Fatehpur, lallu Singh from Faizabad, Neeraj Tripathi from Allahabad and Praveen Patel, from Phool Pur constituencies filed their nominations today. All candidates held a road show before their nominations. Senior BJP leader and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur and Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami took part in the nominations in Basti, Dumariaganj and Faizabad respectively. Anurag Singh Thakur performed Darshana of Ramlala in Ayodhya before the nomination.

On the other hand, many opposition party candidates also filed their nominations including Samajwadi Party candidate Ravidas Melhotra from Lucknow, BSP candidate Shri Kala Reddy from Jaunpur, BSP candidate Shiv Kumar Dohre from Barabanki and Congress -SP alliance candidate Tanuj Puniya from Barabanki.

Interestingly Ashok Singh candidate from Samaj Vikas Kranti Party in Jaunpur reached on a Bullock cart to file his nomination.
