High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Gopal Baglay, has said that India-Sri Lanka relations are likely to enhance in key areas of food security, energy security, currency support, and long-term investments. Mr. Baglay's statement was made during a gathering of the India-Sri Lanka Parliamentary Friendship Association yesterday. Sri Lanka’s Speaker Mahinda Ayala Abeyawardena emphasized the significance of bolstering bilateral ties through exchange programs facilitated by the Association.
He expressed gratitude for India's consistent backing. During the meeting, External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, conveyed via a video message that India remains committed to supporting Sri Lanka's development endeavours and laying emphasis on the strong ties between the two countries. The Minister’s address focussed on shared values, economic cooperation, and regional security between India and the island nation.
