High Commissioner of India, Sri Lankan Monk Unite to Showcase India’s Buddhist Heritage on Bak Full Moon Poya Day

In a symbolic celebration of the Bak Full Moon Poya Day, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha and Chief Incumbent of Parama Dhamma Chethiya Pirivena, Venerable Dr. Maitipe Wimalasara Maha Thera joined hands to inaugurate an enlightening exhibition showcasing India’s rich Buddhist heritage at the Parama Dhamma Chethiya Pirivena in Ratmalana in Sri Lanka. 

 

 
The inauguration ceremony also witnessed generous donations of books on Buddhism & India, enriching the knowledge pool of the attendees. This exhibition marks the third instalment in the mobile exhibition series organized by the High Commission of India, promising to grace different Buddhist places of worship with its presence on every Poya Day throughout the year. The event serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring ties between India and Sri Lanka rooted in shared spiritual traditions. The Bak Poya Day is a commemoration of Buddha’s second visit to Sri Lanka.
