Heavy rains occur in many areas of the state, including Marathwada and Vidarbha. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city and its district have been experiencing heavy rain since last night. The Jayakwadi Dam in the district is currently 87 percent full, and with continued rain in the dam’s catchment area, the water level is expected to rise further. As a result, water will be released from the dam into the Godavari river basin, and the Irrigation Department has advised people living in villages along the riverbanks to take precautions. Water has also been released from the Nandur Madhemeshwar Canal for Vaijapur and Gangapur.
In the Parbhani district, rivers and streams overflow due to heavy rain. Two gates of the Mudgal Dam have been opened. The Nanded-Parbhani road is closed due to flooding at the Mategaon bridge between Zerophata and Poorna, cutting off access to eight villages. In Daithna village, a house collapsed due to heavy rain, and water entered the fields in Jintur taluka. The Masoli project in Gangakhed taluka is full, and Sub-Divisional Officer Jivraj Dapkar has warned residents to remain alert.
For the second day in a row, heavy rains in Hingoli district have caused severe disruptions. Flooding has occurred in the Kayadhu River and other water bodies, with water entering houses in many areas. Significant damage was reported in Hingoli town, where some shops were flooded. The authorities have opened 14 gates of the Siddheshwar Dam to release water into the Purna River at a rate of 27,000 cubic feet per second. This could lead to a major flood, and villages along the river have been warned to stay cautious.
Beed district has also seen continuous rainfall, causing rivers and streams to swell. The Bindusara water project lake is now full. In the district, 143 medium and 36 small water projects are flooded. The administration has warned residents in riverside areas to stay alert as a large amount of water is being released from the Bindusara project spillway. The alternate bridge at Pangri on the Parli-Beed highway is underwater, and motorists are advised to use alternate routes. With the rain intensity increasing, MP Bajrang Sonwane has urged the district administration to be prepared for emergencies, and Guardian Minister Dhananjay Munde has advised people in reservoir and riverside villages to remain cautious.
Nanded district is also experiencing heavy rain, causing major rivers like Godavari, Manjra, Panganga, Asana, Lendi, and Sita to flood. Two units of the National Disaster Response Force, along with local teams, have been deployed for rescue operations. Due to the rain, crops have been damaged, many houses have collapsed, and 12 animals have reportedly died. Collector Abhijit Raut has urged citizens to stay indoors unless necessary and has promised that an assessment of the damage will be conducted once the rain stops.
Heavy rain continues in Jalna district, affecting villages like Patoda, Mantha, Sawangi, Pewa, Taltondi, Maltondi, and Devthana in Mantha taluka. Residents of Pangri Khurd village have been relocated to a safer place as the Pazar lake is full. Heavy rain has also been reported in Tirthapuri, Ramsgaon, Shewta, Banegaon, Lingsevadi, Saundalgaon, and Mangrul in Ghansawangi taluka, causing rivers and streams in the area to overflow.
In Dharashiv district, continuous rain yesterday is expected to damage soybean crops. Although 40 irrigation projects have been completed in the district, none of the medium-sized projects in Umarga and Lohara talukas have been finished yet.
Rain has increased in Latur district, which is beneficial for crops. However, the district administration has advised residents, particularly farmers, to take proper precautions due to the heavy rain.
