Heavy rain continues to lash across Kerala, mainly in the southern parts of the state. A red alert has been issued in Kottayam and Ernakulam districts, with an orange alert in three other districts. The Meteorological Department forecasts heavy downpours in the coming days in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki districts. Many regions in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam districts are flooded, with low-lying areas in many parts of the state facing severe waterlogging. Fishermen and coastal residents are advised to exercise caution as high waves and storm surges are expected along the Kerala and southern Tamil Nadu coasts. Strict regulations have been imposed in hilly regions, and tourism activities are prohibited in several areas. Water levels in major dams are being closely monitored. Heavy rainfall with lightning and thunder is expected in Kerala, and conditions are likely to become favorable for the monsoon onset over the state in the coming days.
