Heavy rain cause havoc in Himachal Pradesh; 16 people killed in landslide in Shimla and cloudburst in Solan

At least 16 people have been killed today in separate incidents amid heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh. Nine people have been killed as a temple collapsed due to landslide in the Summer Hill area of Shimla. Around 20 to 25 people have been reportedly trapped in the incident. In the landslide Shiv Baavri temple engulfed by debris. Relief and rescue operations are underway by the administration. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhhu visited the incident site to assess the relief and rescue work.

In the Mamlig area of Solan, due to a cloud burst-triggered flood, the foundations of two houses were washed away, trapping people from two families. Among them, five people have been safely rescued, while 7 have lost lives. Three are still missing and presumed trapped.
