In Telangana, heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds lashed several parts of the state yesterday. Neelwai of Mancherial District recorded the highest rainfall of over 157 mm while several villages in Jayashankar Bhupalpally District recorded above 100 mm. Normal life has been thrown out of gear in several areas in Hyderabad due to a sudden downpour last evening.
People, especially in Secunderabad and Golconda Fort, Patancheru, Kukatpally, Quthbullapur, Balanagar, Alwal, Jeedimetla, and other areas, had to face hardships due to stormwater and heavy traffic jams. Vehicular traffic has come to a grinding halt at many places like Paradise Circle, Cyber Towers, and Uppal. Earlier, the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre issued a warning of heavy rain or thundershowers for Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.
Khairatabad area in Hyderabad recorded the highest of 94.8 mm rainfall in the twin cities of Secunderabad and Hyderabad. Meanwhile, GHMC’s Disaster Response Forces teams have cleared water stagnation and fallen trees in various places in the city.
