Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions affected a large part of Uttar Pradesh, some areas of Bihar, West Bengal, South Uttarakhand, and north Odisha on Friday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that heatwave conditions also prevailed in parts of Punjab, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and northeast Madhya Pradesh. The weather department has also forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy falls expected over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Northeast India over the next four to five days. There appears no relief in sight for the northern regions of the country as IMD has predicted that heatwave to severe heatwave conditions will persist in these areas over the next 4-5 days.
