Health and Family Welfare Minister today said India has become the dispensaries of the World, adding that it is producing world’s most effective and cheapest medicines. Replying to supplementaries during the Question Hour, Mr. Nadda said, the government has taken several steps to strengthen the pharmaceutical industries in the country. He said, under the Revamped Pharmaceuticals Technology Upgradation Assistance Scheme, the government is supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing units. He said, the government is promoting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to include any pharmaceutical manufacturing unit with a turnover of less than 500 crores that requires technology and quality upgradation. On the query about quality of exported medicines, the Minister said, there is a robust system of examination of medicines. He said, a sample survey is being conducted in the country before exporting the medicines to other countries.

 

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also viewed that there has been a global demand for Indian medicines. To this, Birla emphasised on the need to raise the standard of the medicines so that India can become number one exporter of medicines.
