Health Minister JP Nadda Directs Setup of Heatwave Units in Central Govt Hospitals Amid Severe Heatwave

As several parts of the country reel under severe heatwave, Union Health Minister J P Nadda today reviewed the heatwave situation and preparedness of the Central Government Hospitals and directed for special heatwave units to be set up in these hospitals. He instructed the officials to ensure that all hospitals are prepared for providing the best healthcare to the affected. Sources said, the Health Ministry is also working on a new advisory considering the prevalent heatwave situation, especially in Northern India. Meanwhile, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RML) in the national capital has confirmed that nine people have died due to heat stroke related illness in the last three weeks in the hospital. Over twenty people are currently hospitalised in RML due to heatstroke related illness. Some other hospitals in Delhi are also witnessing patients of heatstroke. 

 

Talking to Akashvani News, Professor of Medicine in RML Hospital, Dr Ajay Chauhan talked about the special facilities set up in the hospital for the treatment of the heat stroke patients. Dr Chauhan also highlighted the precautions one should take to keep heat related illness at bay.
