Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda appeals to people to show sensitivity towards HIV AIDS infected persons

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda appealed to the common people to show sensitivity towards HIV AIDS infected persons and also protect the human rights of infected persons. Addressing the program organized on World AIDS Day in Indore, Madhya Pradesh today, he said that the Central Government has worked to stop any kind of discrimination with infected persons through HIV Protection Act 2017. Mr. Nadda informed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has started implementing the test and treat policy and the result is that now there has been a 79 percent reduction in deaths due to AIDS in the country. There has also been a 44 percent reduction in new infections. Referring to India’s development journey in the medical field, he said that India has succeeded in making the cheapest and most effective medicine for this disease. He informed that out of 17 lakh 30 thousand known infected people in the country, now 95 percent patients have not only been identified but their treatment is also going on. Mr Nadda expressed hope that India will be free from this disease by 2030. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav also addressed the function. He said that fear the disease, not the patient.
