Haryana’s Ladwa constituency braces for crucial election battle

The Ladwa Constituency was carved out of the Thanesar Constituency of Kurukshetra district in 2007. Two years later, it witnessed its first election in 2009. Sher Singh Barshami of INLD became its first MLA from this constituency in 2009. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed his first election rally in Haryana at Kurukshetra.

Haryana’s Ladwa assembly constituency has become the high-profile seat as Acting Chief Minister of Haryana Nayab Singh Saini is contesting from here. Since the party has declared him the Chief Ministerial candidate again, everyone’s eyes are on this seat. Congress has fielded the sitting MLA Meva Singh from this seat, while the Indian National Lok Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party alliance has given ticket Sapna Badshami belonging to the family of Sher Singh Badshami, who was the first MLA from this seat. The Jannayak Janata Party-Azad Samaj Party alliance has fielded Advocate Vinod Sharma, and the Aam Aadmi Party is relying on Joga Singh. Although Sher Singh Badshami has a good standing in this assembly constituency, the main contest here is believed to be between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

In 2014, Dr. Pawan Saini of the Bharatiya Janata Party won this seat by 42 thousand, 445 votes, while in 2019, Meva Singh of Congress defeated Pawan Saini of the BJP by 12 thousand, 637 votes. This time, the Bharatiya Janata Party is seeking votes in the name of ending corruption and nepotism, empowering women, the poor, and farmers, giving jobs without money and slips, and development. At the same time, Congress and other parties have made unemployment, inflation, and farmers their election issues.

On this seat, one lakh, 96 thousand, 536 voters will decide the future of the candidates by casting their votes at 217 polling stations, which include one lakh, one thousand, 518 men, 95 thousand, 17 women, and one transgender voter. Apart from this, 698 service voters will also exercise their right to vote.
