Haryana Police and Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center to collaboratively work to combat cyber crimes: DGP

Haryana Director General of Police Shatrujit Kapoor said that Haryana Police and the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center of the Union Home Ministry are going to collaboratively work on a unified platform to combat cyber crimes effectively. This initiative aims to expedite the resolution of cyber fraud complaints and facilitate the swift freezing of fraudulent amounts within the initial one or two hours so that defrauded amounts can be restored to the complainant.

Mr Kapoor revealed that in pursuit of this objective, the Haryana Police has assembled a dedicated team of cyber experts who have undergone advanced training to proactively combat cyber crimes, which will now collaborate closely with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center in Delhi.

He mentioned that there has been a concerning rise in cyber attacks in Haryana, particularly originating from West Bengal, Rajasthan, Mewat, and their adjacent areas. In response to this growing threat, he said that, primary focus is to mitigate financial losses of the general public due to cyber fraud. Mr Kapoor appealed to the general public, urging them to maintain vigilance and avoid opening any suspicious links on their mobile phones. He emphasized the importance of enhancing online
habits, including the creation of strong and unique passwords, as well as enabling two-factor authentication on accounts. He advised to share personal data exclusively on trusted websites and exercise caution when using public WiFi, which can be targeted by hackers.

DGP cautioned against engaging in task-based activities on the Telegram Investment App and advised against making any investments through it. Furthermore, individuals were urged not to share personal information related to their bank accounts with anyone, as even a slight lapse in caution could make them susceptible to cyber fraud.
