Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal said that the State government has taken steps to economically strengthen Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS).
After presiding over the Cooperative Department review meeting to follow up on the decisions taken at the 31st North Zonal Council Meeting to strengthen the cooperative sector Mr. Kaushal said that approval has been granted to economically empower 774 PACs across the State, with beginning as a pilot project in the PACS in Madha village of Panchkula.
Mr. Kaushal said that emphasis will be given to installing solar power plants on the rooftops of all PACS to harness the potential of solar energy within the State. He said that efforts to facilitate loan provisions for farmers seeking to install solar pumps will be enhanced, thus enabling them to avail the benefits under PM Kusum Yojana.
Chief Secretary said that the State is in the process of selecting three new National Multi-State Cooperative Societies in every district for the production and sale of certified and organic seeds. Furthermore, 167 PACS have been registered for the establishment of Common Service Centers, with 35 CACs (Common Agricultural Centers) already operating smoothly.
In addition, 76 cooperative societies within the state have applied for permission to establish PM Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra, of which 58 have received approval. Similarly, 26 committees have submitted applications for the establishment of petrol pumps, a subject that warrants comprehensive brainstorming.
Highlighting the significance of self-help groups in the Panchayats of five villages within the State, Mr. Kaushal said SHGs will be selected as pilot projects to deliver high-quality management services in drinking water supply. He said that Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (Prime Minister's Agriculture Prosperity Centers) are operational in all PACS across the State.
