Haryana Jail Minister Ranjit Singh said that after the successful experiment of setting up a petrol pump on the land adjacent to Kurukshetra Jail, the State government has now decided to install petrol pumps on the land adjacent to 11 more jails of the State. Chief Minister Manohar Lal has given in-principle approval to the policy decision.
Addressing a press conference at Chandigarh, today, Jail Minister said that the petrol pump operated along with Kurukshetra jail has generated an annual income of 90 lakh to 1 crore rupees. He said that these petrol pumps will be set up by the Indian Oil Corporation. The Jail Minister said that after building a new jail in Bhiwani, new jails are going to be built in Charkhi Dadri, Fatehabad, and Rohtak. Apart from this, the Central Jail of Ambala will also be shifted outside the city, for which land is being identified.
The Minister said that a large number of people from Haryana and other States visit the historical Salasar Balaji Dham Mandir, in view of this it has also been decided that the prisoners in Hisar, Mahendragarh, and Bhiwani jails will make the Sawamani (Prasad) of Salasar Balaji. Special counters will be opened outside the jail premises, where people will be able to buy this Prasad at 30 percent less price than the market.
