Aligning sanitation with dignity and human rights, the “Hamara Shauchalay: Hamara Samman” campaign concludes today on the occasion of Human Rights Day. The three-week campaign was launched on World Toilet Day on 19th of November to mobilise communities across India and bring sanitation into the spotlight as a matter of collective pride and responsibility.
The Jal Shakti Ministry said, over 1 lakh 50 thousand Community Sanitary Complexes were assessed and improved for functionality under the campaign, covering more than 70 percent of existing Community Sanitary Complexes.
The Ministry highlighted that by concluding on Human Rights Day, the “Hamara Shauchalay: Hamara Samman” campaign highlights the intrinsic connection that access to functional and clean toilets is central to ensuring dignity, safety, and equality, particularly for women and marginalized communities.
