In Gujarat, the Swachhta Hi Seva campaign has become a mass movement in just four days. State Rural Development Minister Raghavji Patel said that more than 25 lakh people participated in this cleanliness campaign and donated more than 27 lakh hours of labour during the last four days.
To mark the ten-year completion of the Swachch Bharat Mission, the Swachchta Hi Seva campaign is being celebrated in the country with the theme, Swabhawa Swachhta, Sanskar Swachhata.” As part of the campaign, around 1 lakh kg of waste and more than 60 thousand kg of single-use plastic were disposed across the state.
More than 6,500 yoga camps have also been organised in four days under this campaign to promote health and cleanliness. Along with 6,477 CTUs, i.e., Cleanliness Target Units, more than 1,800 water bodies have been thoroughly cleaned in the state during four days. The state government will distribute prizes up to one crore to the best-performing districts, talukas, and villages on October 2.
