In Bihar, the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government won the vote of trust in the state assembly amid a walkout by opposition Grand Alliance members. 129 members including three RJD MLAs Chetan Anand, Neelam Devi and Prahlad Yadav supported the motion in favour of the Nitish Kumar government. In the House of 243 members, one MLA of JD(U) abstained from voting. One member of AIMIM voted against the vote of confidence, opposing the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
 
"In Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar led government today proved its majority in the state assembly sailing through the vote of confidence. The NDA has also fortified its strength base in the assembly by adding two members to its kitty and moving to 130  MLAs from its previous count of 128. On the other hand with defeat in the vote of no confidence against Speaker Awadh Bihari Choudhary and defection of three members of RJD the Grand Alliance has received big jolts on the first day of the Budget session of the House. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that his government has made the recruitment process transparent. He said, the Government is trying to complete the recruitment procedure within a set timeframe so that everyone gets an equal opportunity to showcase their capabilities. The Prime Minister was speaking after distributing more than one lakh appointment letters to newly inducted recruits under Rozgar Mela through video conferencing today. He said, Rozgar Melas plays a crucial role in enhancing the contribution of our Yuva Shakti in nation-building. Mr Modi said, India now has the third largest startup ecosystem. On the occasion, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of Phase I of the Integrated Complex Karmayogi Bhavan at New Delhi. The complex aims to promote collaboration and synergy among various pillars of Mission Karmayogi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates UAE starting tomorrow. During the visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the 'Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha Mandir, the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. Briefing media in New Delhi today about the visit, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra said the Prime Minister will participate in the World Government Summit 2024 to be held in Dubai and deliver a special keynote address at the Summit.

Replying to a media query on the release of eight Indian ex-Navy veterans from Qatar, Mr. Kwatra appreciated the decision of the Qatar government.

President Draupadi Murmu urged the young generation to embrace science to find innovative engineering-based solutions to the problems faced by the country. Addressing the 20th convocation of SVNIT in Surat, the President asked students to contribute in nation-building and achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat.
 
The President also asked them to take the country forward in emerging sectors such as AI and machine learning. The President said, women have an important role to play in achieving the dream of developing India by 2047.

Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya today launched an AIIMS-SBI Smart payment card for hassle-free payments in All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, the Union Health Minister highlighted that the AIIMS Smart Payment Card will resolve the long pending issue of patients from far-flung areas carrying cash with them to the hospital. He added that patients or their caretakers can get the card easily from the facilitation centers in AIIMS, New Delhi. The Smart card is being provided free of cost to all patients and has no service charges. All patients upon admission will be issued the Smart Card.

Bone Marrow treatment facility will soon be made available at the National Cancer Institute of AIIMS, Jhajjar in Haryana for those suffering from blood cancer. On the occasion of the 5th foundation day of the Institute, Chief of the NCI, Prof. Alok Thakar while talking to Akashvani News, said that state-of-the-art facilities are available at this institute for the treatment of different kinds of cancers which are being provided at very nominal rates. Dr Supriya Mallick of the Department of Radiation Oncology said that advanced facilities are available at the NCI at very affordable rates for the patient.

Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has announced to join the ruling NDA alliance snapping its ties with the opposition alliance. Replying to a media query in New Delhi today, party Chief Jayant Chaudhary said his party took this decision because of the situation.

In the National Capital Delhi, Delhi Police has imposed a month-long ban on public meetings and tractors and trolleys entering the city, in response to the proposed agitation by farmer organizations tomorrow. The order further stated that blocking of roads, passages, rallies, public meetings and gatherings of five or more persons are prohibited in the entire jurisdiction of Delhi. Carrying Corrosive Substances or Explosives has also been banned in the city. Delhi Police said that all vehicles entering from neighboring states Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are subjected to rigorous and thorough inspection by law enforcement authorities. However, People are allowed to attend weddings, funerals or other purely religious functions organized after due permission from the concerned authority.

Government E-Marketplace (GeM) has recorded Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) worth three lakh crore rupees in the current fiscal year so far. With this, GeM has surpassed the total GMV of two lakh crore rupees recorded in the previous fiscal year. This was informed by GeM CEO Prashant Kumar Singh in New Delhi today. Talking to Akashvani News, Mr Singh said that the main focus of GeM is to eliminate harmful practices like collusion, corruption and bribery in government spending

Retail inflation eased to a three-month low of 5.1 percent in January 2024, mainly on account of lower food prices. Inflation based on the Consumer Price Index was at 5.69 percent in December 2023 and 6.52 percent in January last year. Food inflation for January stood at 8.30 percent versus 9.53 percent recorded in December 2023.
 
Meanwhile, industrial production grew 3.8 percent in December 2023 as against 2.4 percent in November 2023.

Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra is providing benefits of government schemes to a large number of eligible people in Uttar Pradesh.
 
"There is a lot of enthusiasm among the people of Prayagraj regarding the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra. So far, more than 13 lakh people have participated in the yatra in 1540 gram sabhas in rural areas. During the yatra, 886 people were given Ayushman cards and around 6 thousand people were given the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
 
Poonam, a beneficiary of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, said that she has got a gas cylinder under the scheme which has made her life much easier.
