Gujarat will become the second state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) after Uttarakhand. Addressing the state assembly, State Law Minister Rushikesh Patel said this is a step towards ensuring equal justice for all the people of the state and realising the concept of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
The minister further said that to speed up the judicial process, the state government has made provisions for three new arbitration tribunals at Rajkot, Surat, and Vadodara district headquarters. It has also been decided to try the cases of municipalities and panchayats in the state at the arbitration tribunal.
