Gujarat government has given an in-principle approval to allocate a total grant of 63 crore rupees for the purchase of emergency fire vehicles and equipments to the municipalities of the state.

The decision has been made after the representations made by the public representatives and local leaders before the Chief Minister to ensure fire safety in the state. The amount will be allocated under the Swarnim Jayanti Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme to ensure that the local urban authorities are equipped with the latest fire safety equipment at their disposal to tackle any emergency.

The Gujarat Urban Development Company (GUDC) will procure and allocate nearly 71 firefighting vehicles and equipment to the 54 municipalities.
