Gujarat government announces a Rs 350 crore relief package for farmers affected by heavy rains in July

The Gujarat government today announced a Rs 350 crore relief package for farmers affected by heavy rains in July this year. State Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel announced this in the assembly on the last day of the monsoon session. The Minister said that heavy rains damaged over 4 lakh hectares of agriculture and horticulture crops across 45 tehsils in 9 districts, as per the loss assessment survey. Farmers with non-irrigated Kharif crops suffering 33 percent or more losses will receive 11,000 rupees per hectare, up to two hectares. For irrigated crops with similar losses, the compensation is 22,000 rupees per hectare, also up to two hectares. Similarly, farmers with annual horticulture crop losses of 33 percent or more will receive a fixed compensation of 22,000 rupees per hectare, up to two hectares.
