Govt’s commitment to sustainable mobility embodies vision of energy security, cleaner air, & modernised transport: Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy

Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel H. D. Kumaraswamy today said that government’s commitment to sustainable mobility embodies a vision of energy security, cleaner air, and modernized transport.

 

He said, the Centre is working to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and reducing emissions, as India is making efforts for transitions to electric vehicles. The Minister stated this while addressing a national conference on Accelerating E-mobility:

 

Enablers and Imperative in New Delhi. Mr Kumaraswamy added that the government is leading the nationwide push for electric vehicle adoption, contributing to the country’s ambitious net-zero target for 2070.

Speaking on the occasion, Adviser in the Prime Minister’s Office, Tarun Kapoor said that government is very clear in EV’s penetration into the market and complete replacement of diesel vehicles. He added that through PM E-Drive scheme, it is pushing to increase investments for charging infrastructure in areas including parking spaces, offices, and public areas in different cities.
