The education ministry today informed that the government will develop 620 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) under the PM SHRI scheme, which will focus on further strengthening the infrastructure and other amenities of the existing school.
Replying to a question in Lok Sabha, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said during the last five years the number of student enrolments in JNVs has increased consistently. Mr. Pradhan said in 2019-20 the number of enrolled students was 2.72 lakh at JNVs across the country, which increased to 2.88 lakh in 2023-24.
