Union Food Processing Minister Chirag Paswan has said the government will soon build 100 food testing labs in the country to ensure food quality. Replying to the supplementaries during Question Hour in Lok Sabha, Mr Paswan said the government will not compromise on the quality of food products. He said, 205 food testing labs are functional across the country, which have been built at a cost of 503 crore rupees. Mr Paswan said, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has analysed over three lakh samples in the last two years and found 13 thousand samples unsafe. He said, criminal cases have been filed against more than two thousand people. The Minister informed that FSSAI undertakes regular surveillance, monitoring, inspection and random sampling of food products through its Regional Offices and State Food Safety Departments throughout the year.
