Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal today announced that the government has set a target of 500 million tonnes of steel production by 2034. Addressing the 5th edition of the ISA Steel Conclave in New Delhi, Mr. Goyal urged industry leaders to focus their energy on economies of scale through decarbonization, as green steel will be in higher demand. He encouraged the industry to find new and better ways to achieve high quality, low carbon emissions, and high productivity, with the goal of making India an irresistible steel manufacturer on the global stage.
