Govt Running Welfare Schemes for Six Notified Communities: Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju

The contribution of minorities will be substantial in making India a self-reliant nation by 2047. Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju said this today while addressing a conference of state minorities in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, the minister emphasised the need to prioritise the education and skill development of minorities. He said that the government is running several personalised schemes for the welfare of six notified communities, which include Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Zoroastrians.

Mr. Rijiju urged all stakeholders of the state minorities commissions to intervene and identify important schemes for the wellbeing of minorities and assured all possible financial assistance for the implementation of those. Minister of State for Minority Affairs George Kurian inaugurated the conference this morning. The conference primarily focuses on education, inclusion, and empowerment of minorities. Policymakers, experts, and stakeholders from various states attended the conference to deliberate on strategies for ensuring equitable opportunities and welfare for minority communities.
