Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L. Murugan has said that the government has prioritised the empowerment of girl children and women, as they are contributing to the growth of the nation at a larger level. Speaking at the annual day of a women’s college in Chennai, the minister said that nurses from India are widely accepted and well-respected all over the world. He informed us that it was the central government which gave preference and opportunities for women to serve the nation through the defence forces.

The minister said that 33 percent of the reservation for women in politics has also been successfully implemented by the government. Encouraging women to venture into new areas of fields like space technology and taking up new ventures, he said that India is surely on the path of Viksit Bharat in 2047.
