The government today said that under the Pradhan Mantri Internship Scheme, it is receiving an  overwhelming response from across the country

Replying to the supplementaries in Rajya Sabha, Minister of Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman said as of now the government has placed aspiring youth as interns in various positions at nearly 743 districts of the country.

She said that since the beginning of the pilot scheme, several partnering companies have offered 1.27 lakh internship opportunities and more than 28 thousand accepted the offer and are currently undergoing internship. She said in the second phase that commenced in January this year, 80 companies are offering internship opportunities in different sectors.
