Union Minister of Road, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that the government is implementing all kinds of advanced technologies like the use of Artificial intelligence in the road safety ecosystem. Addressing the 12th edition of the Traffic Infratech Expo in New Delhi today, he emphasized adopting the most advanced technology in road construction. He added that the government is encouraging talented engineers to share their best practices in road construction to make the roads safer for motorists.
The minister said that the National Highways Authority of India is building a lot of expressways and axis-controlled roads which will bring down the number of accidents. He added that the ministry is appointing experts from the private sector for road safety. It will look ahead to develop and implement a system that takes care of law enforcement, manages tolls, and also keeps an eye on road quality. Mr Gadkari said that this project will be finalized in the next three months and priorly implemented on major highways and later can be leveraged by respective state governments.
