Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal has said that the government has taken major steps to improve the urban infrastructure and housing landscape in the first 100 days of the Modi 3.0 government.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi yesterday, the Minister informed that the government approved Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0 to provide financial assistance to one crore urban poor and middle-class families in urban areas with the investment of two lakh 30 thousand crore rupees.
The Minister also informed that metro services have been extended to 21 cities across the country over the last ten years. Mr. Manohar Lal added that 700 kilometres of new Metro lines have been made operational, bringing the total operational length to 945 kilometres.
He also highlighted the investments of over eight lakh crore rupees in schemes related to urban infrastructure projects. He said, the investment is 21 times more than in the period during 2004 to 2014. During the event, the Minister also launched the Training Module on Swachhata Hi Seva 2024.
