Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr Jitendra Singh said that the Government has created a new stream to generate wealth from Waste in the last 10 years. He said this while inaugurating a workshop on National Workshop on Good Governance Practices in New Delhi today. During his address, he discussed the evolution of governance reforms, from reducing physical files to considering the environmental impact of discarded items like chairs and computers. The Minister also discussed the potential for expanding the cleanliness drive to the bottom level ensuring good governance practices are widespread. He said the concept of waste as a resource is emphasized with examples of creating wealth from various types of waste, including cow dung and discarded plastic.
Dr Singh highlighted the importance of issues such as ensuring clean toilets in schools, which has been addressed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also mentioned that the integration of different departments and institutes including CSI, biotechnology and science and technology institutes will be helpful going forward.
