Port, Shipping and Waterways Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal said that the government is committed towards the growth of the country making it a leading maritime and shipbuilding power in the world. Speaking at the valedictory session of the India Maritime Heritage Conclave (IMHC) in New Delhi today, the minister highlighted that from port operations and logistics to mega-infrastructure development, the country is earning global recognition.
Mr. Sonowal added that the sessions of IMHC highlighted prehistoric bead-making and ship-building techniques that were once in demand worldwide, showcasing our rich legacy. He also added that the upcoming National Maritime Heritage Complex in Lothal will be reshaping the world’s perspective on India’s shipping sector.
The two-day conclave was attended by global experts and academicians from 11 nations to present deliberate and attempt at finding sustainable solutions to the contemporary challenges in the maritime sector.
