Jal Shakti Minister, C R Patil today said that the Government is working in tandem with states that are yet to achieve 100 percent tap water connection coverage for rural households. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Mr Patil said that there are still four crore households without tap water connections. He added that the Ministry is in discussions with the respective states and has urged them to accelerate its coverage.

Talking about the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Minister said that it has boosted rural employment and prevented the need for cross-city migration. He mentioned that the youth and women have benefitted the most from it. Mr Patil said that while the deadline for the mission has passed, the Government is looking to renew it to meet the demands of the households that are yet to be connected.
