Govt clarifies not going to review existing New Pension Scheme as of now

The government has clarified that it is not going to review the existing New Pension Scheme as of now. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary said that the government does not intend to assure its employees the pension of 40 percent to 45 percent of the last drawn salary replacing the existing market link pension. He also clarified that the committee constituted by the government to review the existing new pension scheme of the government employees has not given its report.
 
The issue of implementation of the Old pension scheme instead of the existing New pension scheme has been on the agenda of many political parties and employee organizations. Congress ruled Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh governments have implemented the Old pension scheme while in Uttar Pradesh it was a big political issue during assembly elections.
